Boxer is beaming with pride after the announcement that Elite Boxer Athletics Club runner Elroy Gelant will be heading to the Paris 2024 Olympic Games to take on the greatest marathon runners on the greatest stage on Earth.

Gelant, who is arguably the best male road runner in South Africa, will face 85 of the finest 42 km runners in the French Capital, France on the 10th of August 2024. This will be Gelant’s third successive appearance at the Olympic Games. He will compete along with four fellow South Africans.

“We are beyond proud. 2024 is Gelant’s year. He has truly come into his finest form and Boxer Athletics Club, Boxer, and of course the whole of South Africa is behind him. He’s had an incredible season so far, winning the National half-marathon title in Gqeberha, and he took gold at the recently held SA Marathon Championships in Durban. Now, he is off to the Olympic Games! What a year!” Said Boxer Athletics Club Chairwoman Jade McNally.

“What a journey it has been! I am extremely grateful to my manager Rhyn, and the BAC management team for believing in my goals and backing me all the way. I was determined to rejuvenate myself, and become a different athlete and qualify for the Olympics. I cannot wait to represent Boxer Athletics Club and South Africa, it is an incredible honour," said Gelant
