Hope has been restored to hundreds of market sellers at the Zamimpilo Community Market in Mtubatuba in the uMkhanyakude District Municipality after a devastating fire destroyed the vibrant market recently.

The market, which had become a beacon of success for women's economic empowerment in the area, was fully run by local businesswomen and offered customers fresh produce, beautiful crafts, and more.

Boxer Superstores, who have a long and cherished relationship with Mtubatuba families, jumped in to assist the families affected by the fire. “We heard about the fire moments and knew we had to do something. Our team in Northern KZN arranged for 136 hampers to be shipped to the 136 women, many of whom are breadwinners for their families so that they could begin rebuilding their businesses and not have to worry about putting food on the table while dealing with this terrible situation,” said Boxer Superstores General Manager for the region, Riaan Anderson. “Boxer values above all else, its relationship with our beloved shoppers, communities, and families in the areas that we are fortunate enough to trade in, and when tragedy strikes, we aim to be there, as the community champion for those who need us. We are grateful that no loss of life occurred and we hope that these incredible women can rebuild and resume trading soon,” he added.
